England Confirm World Cup Squad Numbers: Kane Keeps 9, Bellingham Takes 10
England have released their shirt numbers for the 2026 World Cup. Captain Harry Kane keeps the number nine, Jude Bellingham takes the ten, and Marcus Rashford is handed an eleven that hints at a starting role. Thomas Tuchel's side open Group L against Croatia in Dallas on June 17.
E ngland have confirmed their shirt numbers for the 2026 World Cup, and the allocations offer the first hints at how Thomas Tuchel may line up. The Germany-born coach, chasing England's first major tournament win in 60 years, named his 26-man squad last month, and the numbers fill in some of the picture.
Kane and Bellingham lead the spine
Harry Kane will captain the side and keeps the number nine, with Jude Bellingham handed the number ten ahead of Morgan Rogers (17) and Eberechi Eze (21). Bukayo Saka takes the seven, and Jordan Pickford keeps the goalkeeper's number one.
Clues to the starting eleven
Nico O'Reilly wears number three and looks set to start at left-back, while Elliot Anderson's number eight points to a central-midfield role alongside Declan Rice (4). Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo takes 16, with Jordan Henderson given 14. Marcus Rashford was handed the number eleven, an allocation that suggests a starting berth, with Anthony Gordon at 18 as the two compete for a place in attack.
Group L and a 60-year wait
England begin their campaign against Croatia in Dallas on June 17, before facing Ghana in Boston on June 23 and Panama in New York on June 27. Tuchel's side have not won a major tournament since the 1966 World Cup.
